A NYC judge has ruled that Mariah Carey must continue to defend herself against her brother’s claims that she defamed him in her best-selling memoir.

In her 2020 book “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” the singer alleged that her brother sold cocaine, physically attacked their mother, and hired a hitman.

On Tuesday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Barbara Jaffe sided with Mariah’s brother Morgan Carey in his lawsuit against the “Glitter” star.

Jaffe ruled that portions of the book could be considered defamatory and said those claims must be reviewed in court, forcing the multiple Grammy winner to prove that she didn’t defame her brother when she made the accusations about him.

Jaffe dismissed 14 of the suit’s claims, finding that many of the other statements Carey made about her brother were opinions and exaggerations — which doesn’t rise to the level of defamation.
