Authorities are searching for two squatters who made themselves at home inside a woman’s apartment.
On April 5th, the unidentified victims said they were returning from a vacation when they noticed their front door was damaged. The victims added that their apartment was mainly empty when they entered. Greenbelt police said one of the victims was leasing the condo and the second victim was a friend who was staying over.
The victims told police they found two people lying on the bed. The suspects allegedly told one of the victims they had taken all their property.
“Not only were they in my home. But everything in my home was gone except for my bed because he details how he loved my bed so much,” the victim says. “And I’m like, who are you? And he says my name. He’s like you didn’t pay your rent. I’m like, what are you talking about? I paid my rent.”
The woman adds that the male suspect became aggressive toward her as she tried to leave the apartment.
“He tackles me, and I’m like, ‘sir, this is my home you not gone let me leave,” she explains. “He’s like, ‘no, I’m just saying you not gone call the police. I’m going to give you your apartment. You just not gone call the police.’”
The victim told reporters that she still does not know where her belongings are, worth about $50,000.
“I just couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I see this on TV,” she said. “They really took over my apartment, and I was just trying to remain calm. But at the same time, I just couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I come home, and literally, two people are in my bed relaxing.”
