Dwight Howard was trending on Twitter on Sunday, and it had nothing to do with basketball. A Twitter user named Masin Elije posted a series of tweets making serious claims about the NBA player and people around him.
Masin wrote that Howard was a former partner and claimed to have been harassed, threatened and manipulated. Masin also claimed that members of Howard’s camp, including a pastor, made harassing and threatening calls and pushed for a nondisclosure agreement and a payment in exchange for silence. Masin said the threats got worse after those offers were refused.
To back up the claims, Masin shared screenshots of messages and audio clips on social media. We have not independently verified any of that material, and the claims are allegations only.
Masin also said police had been contacted and wrote that the posts were meant as a record in case anything happened. Masin’s tweet read in part that the posts were made so people would know the truth.
Dwight Howard and his representatives had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of this report. We will update the story if a statement comes in.
It is also worth noting that these claims came from a single social media account and had not been confirmed by police, the courts or any news organization.
