Meek Mill Wants Artists To Build Their Own Streaming Apps With AI, Calls On Tech Companies To Teach Kids The Game

Meek Mill wants to connect with some of the biggest companies in artificial intelligence, and he has two specific goals in mind. The Philadelphia rapper is pushing to introduce AI education into his hometown’s schools while developing technology that could give musicians more control over their earnings, content, and relationships with fans.

In a series of posts on X, Meek directly called on OpenAI and Anthropic, making it clear that he wants to move beyond conversations about artificial intelligence and start building something.

“I want to link somebody from open ai or Anthropic for 2 missions … to add si classes to Philadelphia schools where kids can learn more rapid in fun ways and set to different levels to teach students at their learning comfort level!”

His first proposal centers on making education more personalized. Rather than expecting every student to learn at the same speed, Meek Mill envisions technology that could adjust lessons to individual abilities while making the experience more engaging.

The idea also connects to work already happening in Philadelphia. According to the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, its Pioneering AI in School Systems program launched with Philadelphia public schools in spring 2025 to help educators incorporate artificial intelligence into teaching.

The School District of Philadelphia has also approved AI tools, including Google Gemini for students in grades 9 through 12, with established requirements involving student privacy and educational standards.

Meek has not announced an official partnership with either company or the school district. However, his proposal could potentially expand existing efforts by emphasizing individualized instruction and student access.

His second mission focuses on the music business.

“And to create software or a eco system for artist, investors and supporters that makes more money for all.. technology is changing rapidly, and the way we calculate how we get paid and collect data is fully outdated compared to the technology out now! Connect me”

Meek Mill appears interested in an artist-controlled digital ecosystem where musicians, investors, and supporters can participate financially without depending entirely on traditional streaming platforms.

That could involve artists selling exclusive releases, offering paid memberships, monitoring audience engagement, and establishing their own pricing. The larger objective would be to give creators more direct control over how their content generates revenue.

He followed up with a more specific example involving music distribution and payment technology. The payment concept is technically possible. According to Stripe, its existing technology allows creators and businesses to sell products and subscriptions through payment links without building their own checkout systems.

However, developing a complete music platform would still require secure content delivery, licensing compliance, ownership protections, and reliable payment management. AI could assist with software development, but creating a functioning business requires more than generating code.

Meek also directly criticized streaming economics and the way music consumption gets converted into sales figures.

“Streaming 1500 times to equate a sale and all artist priced the same on platforms is hurting music business … I been around for LimeWire… hard copies… dat piff to dsps … it’s time for a change!!!!”

There is an important distinction behind his criticism. Under the Recording Industry Association of America’s certification rules, 1,500 qualifying streams equal one album equivalent unit. That formula measures certification activity, not an artist’s actual paycheck.

Meanwhile, Billboard’s updated 2026 methodology counts 1,000 paid subscription streams or 2,500 ad-supported streams toward one album unit. Spotify separately explains that royalty payments depend on streaming market share and contractual agreements rather than one universal payment per play.

For Meek Mill, those distinctions feed a larger argument about whether artists should have more opportunities to determine the value of their own work.

His latest statements also build on an existing interest in artificial intelligence. The Philadelphia Inquirer previously reported that he had discussed introducing AI courses in underserved communities and using Claude to organize his business activities.

What remains unclear is who would finance his proposed projects, how his artist platform would operate, and whether OpenAI or Anthropic will respond.

Still, Meek’s latest push is about more than using AI to make everyday tasks easier. He wants Philadelphia students to benefit from new learning technology and musicians to gain more financial independence, with both groups having a greater say in how artificial intelligence shapes their futures.
