Rapper Meek Mill has been sued for copyright infringement for allegedly ripping off lyrics to “Cold Hearted II” and “100 Summers.”
According to Bossip, the Philadelphia rapper is being accused of stealing the lyrics from two songs off his last album Championships. Dream Rich Entertainment filed the lawsuit last month against his record label Dream Chaser, and parent company Atlantic Records, the outlet has learned. Dream Rich accuses Meek of civil conspiracy to commit copyright infringement, alleging that Meek stole copyrighted songs and acted as if they were his and put them on his album.
Dream Rich claims that in 2018 they acquired the rights to the song lyrics and copyrights for “Cold Hearted II” and “100 Summers” after its contracted songwriter wrote them. They say that Meek had access to the songwriter’s lyrics, took the two songs, and recorded himself using the lyrics and the title, according to court documents obtained by Bossip.
The 33-year-old rapper has yet to respond to the lawsuit, and no lawyer has been listed as his attorney. Dream Rich says the issue was something it tried to work out with Meek initially, but they were not successful. If the case falls in their favor, Dream Rich is asking for $75,000 for each alleged infraction in the lawsuit, or more than $300,000, Bossip reports.
