Megan Thee Stallion may be one of the biggest rappers in the game right now, but that’s only one reason fans love her.

In addition to the bangers she’s blessed us with, the Houston star has also been a vocal advocate for women’s rights, primarily promoting body positivity and self-confidence.  This has been evident in records such as “B.I.T.C.H.” and even “Her.” However, even through her party bangers such as “Savage,” “Cry Baby,” and “Big Ol Freak,” messages of sexual empowerment ring true. The visuals accompanying much of her music also push such messaging, especially in newer records such as “Cobra” and “Hiss.”

Aside from her catalog, many appreciate Meg’s transparency regarding overcoming grief, even in childhood. The Texas Southern University graduate grew up with an incarcerated parent, her father Joseph Pete Jr., who was in prison for the first eight years of her life before ultimately dying when she was just 15. Her mother, Holly Thomas,  acted as Meg’s manager and biggest supporter in her early career. Sadly, she died in 2019 from a brain tumor.  Just two weeks after Thomas’s death, Meg’s grandmother, who was another primary caregiver for her, passed away.

“When I’m going through something personal, I’m like, ‘I just got to pray,‘ because I don’t even know who I can ask. Who can I ask about this situation? And who do I trust?“ She referenced her grief in a 2022 interview with Apple Music with hosts Nadeska Alexis and Ebro Darden.

Between such honesty and an incredibly successful career, there’s no secret why the public has gravitated towards her.  This has been evident in each sold-out show of the Hot Girl Summer Tour. And her great performances are only the icing on the cake.

Pete and Thomas Foundation

Launched in 2022, the Pete & Thomas Foundation, dedicated to Megan’s parents, “provides resources for women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities.“ This includes scholarships and the #BlackGirlJoyChallenge, which awarded 100 young women with $550 microgrants to help push their mental house and community efforts.

Mental health awareness

Shortly after the launch of the Pete and Thomas Foundation, Megan Thee Stallion unveiled her “Bad B***hes Have Bad Days Too“ campaign. The official website for the initiative offers therapy and other resources for those struggling with their mental health. Planet Fitness partnered with the rapper to help push “Bad B***hes Have Bad Days Too“ with a line of custom limited edition merchandise.

Girl unity

Throughout her time in hip-hop, Megan Thee Stallion has promoted unity among women in rap.  This has been demonstrated countless times, with the Houston Hottie even shouting out JT during her incarceration on the 2019 track, “Realer.” She has also collaborated with a host of female entertainers and supported their work.  This includes Cardi B, Saweetie, GloRilla, Nicki Minaj, Latto, Flo Milli, Monaleo, City Girls, Doja Cat, Rico Nasty, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and so many others.  She collaborated with Beyoncé on their hit, “Savage,“ which seemed to spark a bond between the two.
