On Monday, former Spice Girl, Mel B, filed a restraining order against her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte, citing claims of abuse and extortion.
In the documents obtained by TMZ, Mel B alleges that Belafonte has brutally beaten her on numerous occasions and threatened to ruin her career by releasing intimate moments between the two. The singer provides a detailed timeline of Belafonte’s alleged abuse over the years, citing a pattern of abuse and possible jealousy, when she accomplished something for herself.
In 2007, the singer says Belafonte choked her out and slammed her on the ground on the night of her “Dancing with the Stars” finale, adding that he would “beat me down to let me know he was in charge.” Five years later, Belafonte allegedly busted her lip, after punching her in the face for supposedly flirting with Usher on the set of “X Factor.” One month after Mel’s split lip, she says Belafonte put his fist to her face once again, one day after her performance at the London Olympics. She also says in that same incident, Belafonte reportedly pushed her down on the carpet, causing rug burns on her face. As a result, he forced her to blame her injuries on 7” Louboutin’s, by tweeting she was running in the heels.
The court documents also reveal Belafonte allegedly knocked up their nanny and tried to force all three of them to live under the same roof. However, Mel says Belafonte eventually made the executive decision to abort the nanny’s baby, providing her with $300,000 of Mel’s money “for alleged nanny services.” She also says that due to the “emotional and physical” stress and exhaustion, Mel consumed an entire bottle of pain killers. But, when she tried to call the police, he stopped her and locked her in a room to die. The abuse continued for years, in several different aspects. Mel says Belafonte forced her into threesomes with random women, but when she tried to deny his advances, he would threaten to release explicit videos of her. Apparently, those weren’t the only threats Belafonte made. Mel says whenever she tried to leave him, he “threatened me with violence and threatened to destroy my life in every possible way …destroy my career and take my kids from me.”
A judge granted Mel’s restraining order, forcing Belafonte to leave their home in Hollywood Hills.
However, in the wake of the disturbing allegations against Belafonte, he seems to be worried about the kids. He says their children are on the social media, so he is not sure why Mel is spreading these allegations, as they will hurt the kids, in the long run. He has also denied the allegations, telling TMZ that they were not true.
