Melania Trump, a woman known for few words, was not so quiet after a Food Network host, made a “callous” remark regarding her son, Barron Trump, 14, on Father’s Day.

Via Twitter, John Henson, host of Food Network’s Halloween Baking Championship, tweeted:

“I hope Barron gets to spend today with whoever his dad is.”

The tweet did not sit well with the 50-year-old former model and led to her speaking out against Henson and his tweet through her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham.

On behalf of Melania Trump, Grisham told The Washington Examiner:

“Sadly, we continue to see inappropriate and insensitive comments about (Donald Trump’s) son. As with every other administration, a minor child should be off-limits and allowed to grow up with no judgment or hate from strangers and the media.”

After backlash from several Twitter users, Henson tried to clarify that his statement was not aimed towards Barron, but instead, his father, Donald Trump.

“The joke was aimed at Trump, and the mere mention of Barron’s name doesn’t mean it’s at his expense,” Henson tweeted to a Twitter user.

This isn’t the first time that Trump’s wife has had to defend her teenage son. In December 2019, Stanford Law professor Pamela Karlan mentioned Barron’s name during House impeachment hearings.

“The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron,” Karlan said.

To that, the first lady replied by using her platform on Twitter to slam the professor’s remarks against her son.

“A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics,” Melania Trump said. “Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering and using a child to do it.”

Afterward, Pamela Karlan apologized for her comments.
