Before VH1 airs his wedding to fiancee Yandy Smith, Mendeecees had one minor thing to take care of — his impending drug trial.
In 2012, news broke that Mendeecees would be facing drug charges on allegations he was runniny a multi million dollar drug trafficking ring in Rochester, NY. Authorities allege that Mendeecees and 2 co-defendents (one being his brother) trafficked $2.5 million worth of drugs between 2005 and August 2012. There were rumors that police raided Yandy’s home looking for him but those rumors hadn’t (quite) been confirmed. (Yandy did touch on it briefly in a past season of Love & Hip Hop NY). Authorities seized $1.5 million from safety deposit boxes and $407,000 worth of jewelry and watches, including a $60,000 Rolex and another $35,000 Rolex. In January of 2013 Mendeecess turned himself in. In February 2014 Yandy coughed up $600,000 to bond him out.
Yesterday Mendeecees plead guilty to narcotic conspiracy. It’s unclear as to whether this is part of a plea deal but considering one of his coherts is doing 10 years and his brother is doing 5, it may have been for the best. Mendeecess could have been looking at 20 years, but taking the plea reduces it to 8-10 years in federal prison and/or a $5 million -$15 million fine. Plus whatever money he’s getting from Love & Hip Hop now goes to the Feds.
So expect to see Mendeecees on your TV screens a lot less in the coming seasons of Love & Hip Hop. This is especially unfortunate since Yandy has recently given birth to the couple’s second child, Skylar.
