Cliff “Method Man” Smith has reportedly landed two high profile roles; The drama ‘Concrete Cowboys’ alongside Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), as well as the upcoming action-thriller ‘Waldo’ alongside Mel Gibson.
According to Deadline, ‘Concrete Cowboys’ is inspired by the real-life Fletcher Street Stables, a black urban horsemanship community which existed in Philly for more than 100 years, providing a safe haven for the neighborhood. The film follows 15-year-old Cole (McLaughlin) who is taken to live with his estranged father, Harp (Elba), in North Philly, where he discovers the city’s vibrant urban cowboy subculture. Method Man will play the role of Leroy, a lifelong friend of Harp’s (Elba) who grew up on Fletcher Street and now works as a mounted officer for the Philadelphia police department.
If that wasn’t enough, Deadline reports that Method Man will also appear in ‘Waldo,’ opposite of Mel Gibson and Charlie Hunnam. The feature film follows a disgraced LAPD detective (Hunnam), who’s spent the past three years living off the grid. His low-key lifestyle reluctantly comes to a halt when he’s pulled back into his old life by a former lover, in order to solve the murder of an eccentric celebrity’s wife. Method Man will play a rapper who is being investigated by Waldo (Hunnam).
The rapper-turned-actor is most famous for his role in the supergroup ‘Wu-Tang Clan’, but has since appeared in a number of films and TV series like ‘The Deuce’, ‘Shaft’, ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Garden State’, ‘The Good Wife’, ‘The Last O.G.’, and many more.
