Michael Jordan and his wife, Yvette Prieto, are expecting their first child together. Jordan’s rep confirmed the news to People and Us Weekly, seven months after the couple married in Florida.
Jordan, 50, and Prieto, a 34 year old Cuban American model, met at a Miami nightclub in 2008 and got engaged over the Christmas holiday in 2011. They wed in April at Bethesda by the Sea, an Episcopal church in Palm Beach, followed by a lavish reception at the Bears Club in Jupiter, the golf community where Jordan built a 38,000 square foot home. Usher and Robin Thicke were among the performers.
The baby will be Prieto’s first child and Jordan’s fourth. The Hall of Famer has three children, Jeffrey, 24, Marcus, 22, and Jasmine, 19, from his 17 year marriage to Juanita Vanoy, which ended in divorce in 2006.
The news comes during a season of change for Jordan, who now owns the Charlotte Bobcats and recently put his longtime Chicago area mansion up for auction after it failed to sell at its original asking price.
