Singer Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child recently sparked a wave of internet chatter when her Uber Eats Australia commercial hit the internet. In the short clip, Williams struts over to a park bench, having humorous banter with herself about being in one of the bestselling girl groups, and yet no one recognizes her. This has sadly been a long-running joke, which began when she joined the group two decades ago. While it’s nice to see Williams able to laugh at her critics all these years later by way of the advertisement’s amusing tone, it sparked a conversation online about whether Williams is truly forgotten. However, it’s evident that her impact and legacy endure far beyond such perceptions. In fact, they don’t call her the Queen of R&B Bridges for no reason, with famous bridge moments on “Survivor,” “Cater 2 U,” “Lose My Breath,” and “Is She The Reason,” to name a few.
While Williams garnered massive success with Destiny’s Child, such as multiple Grammy Awards, once the group disbanded, Williams embarked on a thriving solo career. She released her debut album, “Heart to Yours,” in 2002, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. Outside of the studio, Williams also showcased her talents on Broadway in the musical adaptation of “The Color Purple,” earning Williams a nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical at the Tony Awards. She even dived into reality television with her series, “Chad Loves Michelle,” which followed her relationship with her former fiance, pastor Chad Johnson. Williams has also been an advocate for mental health awareness.
