A 21 year old Michigan woman has been charged in connection with a fatal house fire in Lansing that killed three people, a 53 year old woman and two children ages 8 and 4. The fire broke out late on September 3.
Police identified Abbieana as a suspect, and the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office charged her with three counts of open murder and three counts of first degree arson. She has been arraigned in district court and was held without bond. Her next court date is a probable cause conference on September 24, with a preliminary hearing set for November 5.
According to the Lansing State Journal, Abbieana sent her boyfriend a text that read, “I’m outside your mom’s house. I hope your mom likes being burned alive.” The paper also reported that the victims were relatives of the boyfriend.
The Lansing State Journal reported that a friend of Abbieana told police she was angry because she believed the boyfriend was cheating, and that the friend dropped her off on the street where his mother lived shortly before the fire. The paper also reported that she asked a neighbor for a lighter before walking to the home.
Abbieana has denied setting the fire. The charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
