Mielle Organics Founder Monique Rodriguez Speaks Out Following Recent Controversy Over Rosemary Mint Oil: “I Can Personally Guarantee You That We Are Not Making Any Ingredient Changes”

Mielle Organics founder, Monique Rodriguez, is addressing the recent controversy surrounding her natural hair products.

Last month, TikToker Alix Earle shared a now-viral video claiming that Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil has grown her hair tremendously.

“I’ve only been using this for like a little over a month and I’ve already seen tremendous hair growth,” Earle said.

The product, created for the textured hair community, has now become very popular amongst white women. And now the oil has been becoming more difficult to find.

Since then, a handful of black creators have expressed their frustrations on TikTok about how Earle’s video enticed white people to sell out a product that was not created for them.

“What made you think that walking through an ethnic hair care aisle to buy a $20 oil that was not made for you was going to work?… The product doesn’t work for you, but you keep selling the oil out so that the people who actually need it can’t get to the oil,” TikToker @kita.io said.

Other users have urged white people not to purchase the item with fears that Mielle may change its ingredients due to the surge.

Nevertheless, Rodriguez has come forward to set the record straight and says she’s not revamping the formula.

“There have been a few recent comments posted on this topic but I can personally guarantee you that we are not making any ingredient changes,” Rodriguez wrote in an Instagram post. “I also wanted to come here first to assure you directly that we have no plans to change the formula for Rosemary Mint Oil or any of our products.”
