Wife of Fugitive Accused in Minnesota Lawmaker Shooting Found with Guns and Cash in Car

The wife of suspected Minnesota shooter Vance Luther Boelter, Jenny Boelter, was detained during a traffic stop in Onamia, MN, at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14th.

Police discovered “a weapon, ammunition, cash and passports” in the car, which contained three relatives, per 5 Eyewitness News reports. Jenny was “driving the car when she was stopped,” says the New York Post. She was detained for questioning but not arrested.

A witness told 5 Eyewitness News: “A dozen law enforcement squads converged on the vehicle and remained on the scene for two to three hours.” Officials have not disclosed the reason for the traffic stop.

The investigation unfolds as 57-year-old Vance, accused of shooting State Rep. Melissa Hortman and Sen. John Hoffman, remains missing. On the morning of June 14th, Vance allegedly posed as law enforcement and shot Rep. Hortman, 55, Democratic Speaker of the House, and her husband Mark, who were killed. Sen. Hoffman, 60, and his wife Yvette survived.

Officials identified Vance as the suspect and officially asked for the public’s assistance in locating him. A press conference confirmed he was still at large.

Police are still searching following a shoot-out at Hortman’s home after encountering him, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans confirmed. The suspect was last seen “wearing a light-colored cowboy hat with a dark-colored long-sleeve collared shirt or coat, light pants and carrying a dark bag” and is considered “armed and dangerous.”

Jenny, President and CEO of Praetorian Guard Security alongside her husband Vance, was driving on Saturday. Their company’s website notes Vance’s previous security work in Eastern Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East, including the Gaza Strip.
