President Donald Trump’s claim of electoral fraud has rattled some Republican lawmakers. Senator Mitt Romney shared his opinion about Trump’s remarks on Twitter.

“The President is within his rights to request recounts, to call for investigation of alleged voting irregularities where evidence exists, and to exhaust legal remedies – doing these things is consistent with our election process, ” said Romney.

Romney continued by addressing how Trump’s comment impacts society.

“He is wrong to say that the election was rigged, corrupt and stolen – doing so damages the cause of freedom here and around the world, weakens the institutions that lie at the foundation of the Republic, and recklessly inflames destructive and dangerous passions,” Romney continued.

Romney isn’t the only member of Congress to voice an opinion.

Senator Pat Toomey said that Trump’s claim of fraud is “very disturbing.”

“There’s simply no evidence anyone has shown me of any widespread corruption or fraud,” Tommey told CBS. “The president’s speech last night was very disturbing to me because he made very, very serious allegations without any evidence to support it,” said Toomey.

The vote count is still going on in several key states, including Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
