A New York mom is in jail after stashing her cocaine inside of her baby’s diaper bag.
Police stopped a 2008 Dodge Charger driven by Bronx resident 33-year-old Shante Pleasant on Tuesday. During the traffic stop, cops found that the woman did not have a valid driver’s license. Police cited Pleasant and checked her car before it was towed. During the search, they uncovered over 25 ounces of cocaine inside her 7-month-old daughter‘s diaper bag, who was present at the time.
The mother was detained and hit with several charges, including first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree possession with intent to sell, which are both felonies. Pleasant was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was booked into the Greene County Jail, where she will remain until a preliminary hearing on July 29th.
In addition to the infant, Pleasant’s 13-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle. Thankfully, neither child was injured nor appeared to have ingested any lethal drugs. They are now staying with family in Coxsackie.
