The $1 million life insurance payout from murdered former NBA player Lorenzen Wright is already gone, according to court records.
Wright, who played for the Grizzlies, Hawks, Kings and other teams, disappeared after leaving his ex wife Sherra’s home on July 18, 2010. His body was found 10 days later in a wooded area outside Memphis. His murder remains unsolved, and no one has been charged.
According to records reported by Bossip, Sherra spent the payout in about 10 months. The spending included about $32,000 on a Cadillac Escalade, $26,000 on a Lexus, $69,000 on furniture, $339,000 to buy and improve a new house, $11,750 on a trip to New York, a deposit on a swimming pool and $34,000 on lawyers.
Sherra has not been charged with any crime in connection with Wright’s death.
Wright left behind six children. Two and a half years after his death, his family is still waiting for answers.
