As the back and forth continues between Trump and Congresswoman Wilson over a condolence call, the pregnant widow of U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson is speaking out about her husband’s death.
Myeshia Johnson, sat down with “Good Morning America,” to express her anger about Trump’s condolence call, as she revealed he struggled to “remember my husband’s name.”
“I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband’s name, and that’s what hurt me the most because if my husband is out there fighting for our country and he risked his life for our country why can’t you remember his name,” Johnson told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
“That’s what made me upset and cry even more because my husband was an awesome soldier,” she added.
During the conversation, she addressed the many questions she had pertaining to her husband’s death, like “why it took them 48-hours to find my husband; why couldn’t I see my husband? Every time I asked to see my husband they wouldn’t let me.”
“They told me that he’s in a severe, a severe wrap like I wont be able to see him. I need to see him so I will know that that is my husband,” she said, just before divulging the details of her conversation with Trump.
“Yes the President said that he knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyway. And it made me cry cause I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said he couldn’t remember my husband’s name. The only way he remembered my husband’s name because he told me he had my husband’s report in front of him and that’s when he actually said La David.”
“I didn’t say anything, I just listened,” she said of her conversation, adding that Wilson’s account was not fabricated. “What she said was 100 percent correct. It was Master Sgt. Neil, me, my aunt, my uncle, the driver and and Ms. Wilson in the car, the phone was on speakerphone. Why would we fabricate something like that?”
