Fast-food restaurant Nando’s has closed 45 locations after running low on chicken.

On Wednesday, Nando’s explained the chain is facing a chicken shortage, causing them to lose a lot of its revenue. Some of the locations that have been closed down were located in England, Scotland, and more.

In a statement, Nando’s addressed the plethora of closings.

“The UK food industry has been experiencing disruption across its supply chain in recent weeks due to staff shortages and a number of our restaurants have been impacted,” Nando’s said in a statement. The lack of chicken, Nando’s says the issue is partly due to the coronavirus pandemic and Britain’s exit from the European Union. On Monday, fully vaccinated people in England won’t have to isolate even if they come in contact with someone who has COVID-19.

“The operating environment has deteriorated so profoundly I can see no other outcome than major food shortages in the UK. Supply of chicken and turkey is under threat,” said Ranjit Singh Boparan, founder of 2 Sisters Food Group. He mentioned that his company had lost 16,000 workers to the “perfect storm” Rona and Brexit created.

Nando’s production of chicken has dropped by 10 percent. “The UK supply chain is having a bit of a ‘mare right now. This is having a knock-on effect with some of our restaurants across England, Scotland, and Wales,” Nando’s said via Twitter on Wednesday.
