After background checks uncovered links to far-right paramilitary groups, two US National Guard members have been relieved of their inauguration security duties, a report said Tuesday.
The precaution was reported to the Associated Press by officials from the U.S. Army and the US intelligence community, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The report said that there has been no orchestrated plot found against incoming Democratic President Joe Biden.
The two troopers were not identified by name, nor were they identified by the organizations to which they are allegedly related.
The move comes two days after it was announced that the FBI was performing additional background checks on the approximately 25,000 troops mobilized by the National Guard to protect the inauguration festivities.
Since pro-Trump stormed the US Capitol on Jan. 6, the crush of troops has been pouring into Washington, DC.
