After months of back-and-forth, Nelly is officially done with his casino assault case, closing a chapter that lingered longer than expected. The Missouri court dismissed the charge on April 29, ending a nine-month legal process tied to the Ameristar Casino incident.
According to Hot 97, prosecutors agreed to drop the misdemeanor assault charge as part of a plea agreement. In exchange, Nelly took accountability for a lesser violation and paid a $750 fine, effectively putting the situation to rest without further escalation.
The case stems from a July encounter at Ameristar Casino, where a security guard reportedly asked to check Nelly’s player card while monitoring a restricted area. From there, accounts diverged. Nelly’s team maintained that the guard’s behavior intensified quickly, claiming he physically blocked the rapper and invaded his personal space. They said Nelly moved the guard aside briefly and did not cause injury.
Authorities, however, reported that the guard alleged he was shoved during the interaction. That claim led to a misdemeanor charge filed in September 2025, sparking months of legal negotiations that ultimately stayed out of a courtroom showdown.
Now with the case behind him, attention shifts back to music. Nelly is reportedly working on a new project with the St. Lunatics, with production handled by Metro Boomin. While details remain limited, the potential reunion has fans watching closely.
Still, not all conversations around him have cooled. His political affiliations continue to spark debate online, adding another layer to his public narrative even as his legal slate clears. For now, one issue is settled, even if the spotlight hasn’t moved on.
