Although Nelly’s rape case has been dismissed, the rapper is not finished with it. In fact, according to TMZ, the rapper is considering legal action against the accuser for false accusations.

Earlier this week, prosecutors dropped the case against Nelly because the accuser refused to cooperate. According to the woman’s lawyer, the alleged victim felt that she would never be able to stand up against his celebrity status and the public pressure. As a result, she refused to move forward with the case.

Initially, officials tried to proceed with the case without the victim’s cooperation, but their efforts failed, ultimately forcing prosecutors to toss the case. Now that Nelly is in the clear, he is considering legal action against the victim, as his lawyer says he “has suffered very real damage to his reputation.”

“He has incurred an economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation,” the attorney said, adding that “This type of reckless false allegation cannot be tolerated as it is an affront to the real survivors of sexual assault.”
