NeNe Leakes’ oldest son Bryson was arrested last week in Douglas, Georgia, in connection with a check forgery case, but according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution he was not charged with forgery.
The AJC reports that Bryson, 25, of Duluth, had a fake check written to him but had not cashed it, so he could not be charged with forgery. Coffee County investigator Robert Sprinkle said Bryson was arrested only because he gave officers a false name, which is a misdemeanor.
Here is how police describe it. On Tuesday, June 16, investigators made two arrests tied to fraudulent payroll checks passed around the state, with more than $35,000 tracked. Douglas police spotted a man at a local McDonald’s with a laptop and printer making fake Taco Bell payroll checks. That man was arrested on five felony counts for printing fraudulent checks. Police say Bryson was in the vehicle and lied about who he was.
Bryson was released on bond. The other man remains in the Coffee County jail, Sprinkle said.
No statement from Bryson or from NeNe appeared in the AJC report. Baller Alert will pass along any response from the family.
