Uh-oh Netflix, y’all might’ve just done something! If you tuned into the BET Awards Sunday night, you may have seen a few familiar faces from your fave Netflix Shows. And all of those faces were of the African-American persuasion.

Netflix has launched their “Strong Black Lead” Movement. Its goal was to specifically open up dialogue to black audiences and to inspire and focus on Black stories that are being told through this platform.

Initially, there was a bit of controversy behind the ad because of the “black racial slur” former communications chief #JonathanFriedland used on several different occasions, which almost caused Netflix to back out of the BET slot given. But Netflix chose to continue with slot in-spite of the recent circumstances. And we’re happy they did.

The spot was inspired by the 1958 ‘A Great Day In Harlem’ photo. Lacey Duke commented on her experience working on the ad and said “It was a pretty magical couple of hours. All these amazingly talented, beautiful individuals in one space being supportive and just looking stunning together, all here to pull off this one take wonder!”

And we definitely agree with her. Kudos to Netflix for exhibiting Black Excellence in its finest form.
