A two month old girl died in Las Vegas over the weekend, and her father has been charged with open murder, according to police reports covered by People and the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Police say Clarence, 32, threw his infant daughter from a second story balcony early Saturday morning during an argument with his fiancée, the baby’s mother. Officers who responded to a domestic disturbance call found the baby and her mother, who was performing CPR. The baby was later pronounced dead.

According to the arrest report, a downstairs neighbor heard screaming and banging from the upstairs apartment. Police say a fire was also set inside the apartment, and the family’s dog died. Police say Clarence left the scene before officers arrived. He was arrested on October 24.

Along with open murder, a Nevada charge that leaves the degree of murder to be decided later, he faces charges that include first degree arson and killing an animal. The charges are allegations, and he has not been convicted.

No statement from Clarence or his attorney was reported. He was expected in court later in the week.

Our thoughts are with the family.
