A New Jersey man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of his mother, just days after he was released from prison, according to news reports.
In October 2014, Steven was released after serving 30 years for a first degree murder conviction. The case dates back to when he was 15. Reports say he got into an argument with a neighbor who asked him to quiet down in a hallway, and later that day he shot the neighbor. He was charged as an adult.
After his release, Steven returned to his family in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and moved back in with his mother, Gwendolyn, who was 64. Reports say she threw him a welcome home party.
Police say that on the Sunday after his release, Gwendolyn was found dead from multiple blunt force injuries to the head. Steven was charged in her death.
This week, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter. According to reports, he is expected to be sentenced to 25 years.
