In October 2014 Steven Pratt was released from jail after serving 30 years for first degree murder.
When Pratt was fifteen, him and a neighbor got into an argument after the neighbor asked Pratt to quiet down in the hall. Later on that day, 15 year old pratt showed up at the neighbors door and shot him dead. PRATT was charged as an adult and began serving his thirty years in a maximum security prison.
Thirty years later, Pratt got another chance at life once he was released and returned to his family in Atlantic City, NJ. Pratt who was 45 at the time moved back in with his mom Gwendolyn Pratt of 64 years old, who threw a welcome party for his freedom.
On the Sunday following his release, days later of his release, police found Pratt’s mother dead from multiple blunt injuries to the head. Pratt was immediately charged and confessed to the gruesome act. Pratt told he judge he was guilty.
This past week Pratt has officially pleaded guilty to manslaughter and is expected to be sentenced to 25 years.
