This week’s New Music Friday proves that hip-hop and R&B are leaning into confidence, vulnerability, and fan-demanded returns. From a rising Dallas voice making noise with a new single to a soul-searching R&B veteran and one of Detroit’s most distinctive rappers, today’s drops bring something for every playlist.
HeadHuncho Amir keeps his momentum going with his new single, “Certified.” The Dallas rapper has been building a regional buzz through records like “MOTIVATE THE CITY,” “YOU THE BIGGEST,” “BBTN,” and “The Spokesman,” all of which helped define his motivational, street-rooted delivery. Apple Music lists “Certified” among Amir’s 2026 singles, while his YouTube page also features the official video, giving the track a visual push as he continues expanding beyond Texas.
On the R&B side, 6LACK returns with “Love Is The New Gangsta,” his fourth studio album and first full-length project since 2023’s “Since I Have A Lover.” Released through LVRN and Interscope, the 15-track album finds the Atlanta singer reassessing love, fatherhood, mental health, and personal growth. Apple Music describes the project as a soul-baring release where 6LACK examines past mistakes and arrives at the title’s message: love is the new gangster. The album follows singles including “Bird Flu,” “Sunday Again,” and “Ashin’ The Blunt.”
Meanwhile, Veeze surprised fans with “Y’all Won,” an 11-song, 30-minute mixtape that arrives as listeners continue waiting for his long-teased sophomore album “Worst Tape.” Pitchfork reports that the Detroit rapper also released a video for “Wrong Place, Wrong Time,” featuring cameos from Playboi Carti and Lil Baby. The project follows the momentum of Veeze’s 2023 breakout Ganger, several singles, and his Worst Tour Ever run.
