New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan is the subject of a police investigation after an incident at Republic nightclub in New Orleans over the weekend.
According to a police incident report and sources familiar with it, a woman told officers that Jordan patted her on the backside as she walked past. She also said the two had exchanged words beforehand. Her boyfriend reportedly confronted Jordan afterward in the men’s restroom, and the situation turned into a minor altercation. Sources also said champagne was sprayed on the couple. Jordan reportedly maintains that the champagne was an accident.
Authorities say Jordan has been cooperative. The report was filed around 4 a.m. on Sunday. Investigators are working to determine whether the incident could be classified as misdemeanor sexual battery. No arrest warrant has been issued and no charges have been filed so far.
Jordan, one of the Saints’ top defensive linemen, had not been charged with anything at the time of this report. We will keep an eye on how the investigation develops.
