New York Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley, 23, is reportedly under investigation by New York police after a woman accused him of attempted rape, according to the New York Post and CBS New York.
The reports say the woman met Bromley online and went with him to a Midtown hotel early Saturday, January 30. She told authorities that after a consensual encounter he became violent and tried to force her to go further. She also says he struck her with his vehicle as he left the Hyatt Herald Square Hotel. Other reports said she tried to stop him by getting on the hood of the car and fell off as he drove away, hurting her knees and legs. She was reportedly taken to a hospital.
The NYPD said it was investigating a claim of an incident at the hotel but did not confirm that Bromley was a suspect. According to reports, Bromley was released without an arrest while the investigation continues, and no charges had been filed. Bromley and his representatives had not publicly responded.
The Giants said in a statement, “We are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor it.” The team said it notified the league office under its protocol and would have no further comment on the ongoing investigation.
An accusation is not a conviction. Baller Alert will share updates as official information becomes available.
