On Thursday, the MTA announced that in commemoration of legendary rapper The Notorious B.I.G.’s 50th birthday, 50,000 MTA cards would be released with the artists’ likeness at certain Brooklyn subway stations.

Available at 12:01 am Saturday, New Yorkers began lining up in droves to get one of the limited-edition cards.

Sonya Magett told PIX11 News that she stood in line for more than three hours. She told the outlet that people were lined up long before the cards went on sale.

“It was very emotional for me standing in the long line for over three hours, but it was something I had to do — get a collectors’ item from the very train around the corner where Biggie grew up on,” Magett said.

According to the MTA, the cards are available in MetroCard machines at the Lafayette Avenue “C” station, Clinton-Washington Avenues “C” and “G” stations, and at Atlantic Av-Barclays Center station.

If you can’t make it out to one of the stations, the cards are already on eBay. Prices range anywhere from about $50 up to $5,000.

The Notorious B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace, grew up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn. He was tragically killed at the age of 24. Popular in the ’90s, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time.
