The National Football League (NFL) has hired former U.S. attorney general Loretta Lynch as their lawyer in their fight against former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores’ racial discrimination lawsuit.
Earlier this month, Flores filed a lawsuit against the NFL, Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants, alleging racist practices occurred in his interview process while discussing possible candidates for head coaches.
Now, according to Bloomberg, Lynch, who previously served under former President Obama, has been tapped to defend the league against Flores. Lynch is a partner at Paul Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, and she will be working with the law firm’s chairman, Brad Karp to oversee legal procedures in the case.
Lynch’s background includes being the first Black woman to lead the Justice Department in 2014. She was also defended McDonald’s against a discrimination lawsuit filed by Black franchisees. Her history is one people are bringing up on social media, as she’s currently facing backlash for her decision to defend the NFL.
“This is the same Loretta Lynch who was hired by BlackRock then worked for McDonald’s in a suit against black franchise owners. So her working on behalf of the NFL isn’t surprising. She’s a really, really sh***y person.”
