Reports surfaced on Friday, August 22, 2014 that Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are ending their marriage, and Cannon confirmed the news. He acknowledged there was trouble in paradise and told The Insider with Yahoo that the couple had been living apart for a few months. He said his focus is on their three year old twins.
Since then, sources close to Cannon have reportedly said he is the one who made the decision to end the marriage and that he did so with the couple’s children in mind. Those claims come from unnamed sources and have not been confirmed by either side.
Why are sources speaking for him? It has also been reported that Carey’s team drafted a confidentiality agreement tied to the divorce, which would limit what Cannon can say publicly. When asked for comment, a representative for Carey said, “I don’t comment on Mariah’s personal life.”
