It looks like cooler heads have finally prevailed between Nicki Minaj and former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant.
The two found themselves in a tense back-and-forth online not long ago, after Bryant challenged Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, to a $10 million fight. Things escalated when Dez referenced Petty’s criminal past, sparking a heated exchange that played out for millions of followers.
But over the weekend, Dez took to Twitter to extend an olive branch. In a heartfelt post, he admitted he didn’t like how their misunderstanding spiraled, apologized for bringing up Petty’s history, and expressed a desire for peace, pointing out that two influential Black figures should be uplifting the community, not tearing each other down.
Nicki responded graciously, telling Dez, “The Lord will grant you peace,” and praising him for taking public accountability. She accepted his apology and even offered one of her own if she had offended him. Of course, the “Super Bass” rapper couldn’t resist ending on a playful note, reminding him that if he still wanted that fight, her husband “def got them hands.”
Whether the $10 million bout ever happens remains to be seen, but for now, peace has been declared.
