Bossip exclusively reports that a grand jury has indicted Jelani, the 37 year old brother of Nicki Minaj, on child rape charges. The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
According to Bossip, Jelani is accused of repeatedly raping a 12 year old girl. He was arrested in December 2015, and Nicki reportedly posted his $100,000 bond. Reports say he recently got married.
Bossip reports the grand jury deliberated for about a month before deciding there was enough evidence to bring charges. The decision was handed down on April 4.
Jelani appeared with his attorneys at Nassau County Court on Tuesday for his arraignment, where he pleaded not guilty.
Bossip reports his top charge is felony predatory sexual assault against a child, which carries a sentence of 15 years to life. He also faces additional felony charges of sexual conduct against a child under 13, sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
