Nike Says Kobe Bryant Sneakers Are All Sold Out, Not Pulled From Nike.com

Nike issued an official statement Monday morning in which it named Kobe Bryant to be “one of the greatest athletes of his generation.”

Kobe Bryant, NBA superstar & icon, died early Sunday in a helicopter crash that killed everyone on board.

At first, in an effort to avoid and prevent people from profit scheming off of the late athlete’s death, many believed Nike pulled all of Kobe Bryant related products from its online stores.

When customers arrived at the site, the purchase links automatically redirected to L. A. Lakers merchandise and a memorial message.

But now, it is confirmed that the redirection of the purchase links were due to all of the Kobe Bryant sneakers selling out of the online stores, according to Complex.

Actually, according to ESPN, Nike is still contemplating the Feb. 7th release of the Kobe 5 Protro.

The shoe is said to combine the details of the white “home” sneaker and black “away” version that Kobe wore in the 2010 NBA Finals. Graphics from the pair of Kobe 5s that the fallen athlete wore during the Laker’s championship parade will also be featured.

However, Nike is unsure whether to release on the date set or postpone the product debut.

Though Nike hasn’t pulled Kobe’s from shelves, other retailers in their likeness have.

“We will not be selling any Kobe’s until further notice,” RIF Los Angeles informed through a statement.

Another Las Vegas-based company, Urban Necessities, sent out an email to retailers buckling down on profiteering and restricting sellers from hiking prices.
