New York Daily News reports that Nipsey Hussle’s alleged killer Eric Holder appeared in court on Tuesday and was told his trial wouldn’t begin for at least another three months.
Judge Robert J. Perry said that due to the coronavirus pandemic’s impact on the court system, it is doubtful the trial will begin in the next 90 days.
“You have the right to a speedy trial. What counsel is suggesting is that we have you come back on the 21st of January and see where we are and try to have a trial within 30 days of the 21st, but you’ve heard my comments, I don’t think that’s going to happen,” the judge told Holder.
Holder appeared wearing a jail issue yellow shirt, blue pants, face mask, and shackles. He is due to appear in court again on January 21, 2021.
Holder was indicted on one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder for the shooting death of Nipsey Hussle on March 31, 2019. According to transcripts obtained by the Dailey News, witnesses said that there was talk of snitching leading up to the shooting. This caused Holder to leave and then return with a gun to shoot Hussle in the head and torso outside The Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles.
