A Judge in Ohio is ordering a hospital to treat patients with ivermectin, an anti-parasite drug used to treat parasitic infections in horses and cows.
Judge J. Gregory Howard in Butler County ordered West Chester Hospital to administer the drug to a fifty-one-year-old patient with COVID-19. The patient was given ivermectin for three weeks despite the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) warning against it.
“The FDA has received multiple reports of patients who have required medical support and been hospitalized after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses,” the FDA said. “Animal drugs are often highly concentrated because they are used for large animals like horses and cows, which can weigh a lot more than we do — a ton or more. Such high doses can be highly toxic in humans.”
Ivermectin is not used to treat viruses.
Podcast host Joe Rogan, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, is using ivermectin.
“I got back from the road Saturday night and was feeling very weary. I had a headache, and I just felt rundown,” Rogan said.
The comedian is taking a combination of ivermectin, Z-Pak antibiotics, prednisone, monoclonal antibiotics, NAD drop, and vitamin D.
“I did that three days in a row,” Rogan said. “And here we are on Wednesday, and I feel great. I really only had one bad day — Sunday sucked.”
The Associated Press reported Wednesday that three inmates in an Arkansas jail were secretly given ivermectin.
“They were pretty much testing us in here is all they were doing., seeing if it would work,” William Evans, an inmate who tested positive for COVID-19, said.
The jail is under investigation.
“It’s all voluntary,” Jay Cantrell, Washington County Chief Deputy, said. “They are able to refuse any medication they’re offered. Even with the vaccine, it’s all voluntary.”
Ivermectin can cause seizures, comas, and death when overused.
Senators Ron Johnson and Rand Paul have promoted the drug to treat COVID-19.
