An Ohio man was taken into custody after a photo circulated online showing him kneeling on the back of a toddler’s neck, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Isaiah, 20, was booked by deputies after they investigated the image, which carried a caption referencing the Black Lives Matter movement. The New York Post reports that a second person can be seen holding the child’s hands behind his back.
Deputies located where the photo was taken and found Isaiah. They also spoke with the child’s mother, who told them she did not know the photo had been taken. Investigators learned that Isaiah had a parole authority hold from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. The child was taken to a local hospital and was not injured, the sheriff’s office said.
“Detectives continue to investigate, and are continuing to compile evidence related to several other persons who were directly involved,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
The sheriff’s office said it will prepare the case for the county prosecutor, who will decide the scope of any felony charges. As of the reports, no felony charges had been filed, and a response from Isaiah was not included.
