Ohio State has dismissed football players Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint from the team after both were arrested on felony charges of rape and kidnapping, according to CBS Sports. The charges are allegations, and neither player has been convicted of anything.

The two were first suspended indefinitely on Tuesday. Police booked them into the Franklin County Jail early Wednesday morning after a complaint was filed over an incident that allegedly happened earlier this month. CBS Sports reports that both are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.

Head coach Ryan Day announced the decision in a statement. “I have dismissed Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint from our football program. I am not making any statement on the criminal charges, but it is clear they did not live up to our standards and my expectations,” Day said. He added that the athletics department will make sure both players continue to have access to health and well being resources available to students and student athletes, and that he will not comment further because of the ongoing criminal investigation.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the incident allegedly took place around 9:45 p.m. on February 4 at an apartment the two players shared. The affidavit says the woman who made the complaint told police that an encounter that began consensually changed when she said she did not want to continue, and that she alleges she was then held against her will. She is not named here and has not been publicly identified.

Neither player had publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report. Both were about to begin their senior seasons and appeared in 13 games last year.
