Atlanta rap staple OJ Da Juiceman is facing a new legal battle, with multiple weapons charges now on the table.
According to court documents, OJ was arrested on March 15 in Georgia. The case stems from a late January incident on I-20 East involving a Georgia State Patrol trooper. The officer reported that while merging into the HOV lane, a vehicle began tailgating and honking aggressively, which quickly escalated into a tense situation.
The trooper alleges the driver passed him and pointed a black handgun directly at him before speeding off through traffic. He also claims he encountered the same vehicle again shortly after, and says the driver pointed the firearm a second time before fleeing. Authorities later identified the car as a Nissan Altima and connected it to the rapper, which led to an arrest warrant being issued in February.
Prosecutors have filed several charges, including felony aggravated assault on a public safety officer and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. There is also a misdemeanor charge of pointing a firearm at another person, along with traffic-related offenses tied to reckless driving. Because Georgia law treats assault on an officer seriously, the potential penalties are significant.
However, the defense is already pushing back on the claims. A sworn affidavit from a woman connected to the vehicle states she rented the car and allowed another individual to use it, adding that the rapper was not driving at the time of the incident. His attorney also emphasized his ties to Georgia, arguing he has strong community roots and is not a flight risk.
This is not OJ’s first encounter with law enforcement in recent years. Back in 2024, the “I’m Getting Money” performer was hit with cocaine trafficking and gun possession charges. The outcome of that case is unclear.
While this recent arrest continues to unfold, OJ Da Juiceman’s impact on Atlanta’s trap scene remains part of his legacy, even as this situation plays out in court.
