An Oklahoma man has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of a 27 year old woman, and police say he told detectives why.
The Enid Police Department says Martika was found shot to death in an alley on a Sunday afternoon. Detectives arrested 30 year old Shane after an investigation led them to a home, where officers and a SWAT team served a no knock warrant and reportedly found evidence related to the killing.
According to police, Shane told detectives during an interview that he shot Martika “to teach her a lesson.” Police also say that when he was booked into the county detention facility, he repeated that he was responsible and said he was glad he did it.
Shane is also charged with possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction and destruction of evidence. These are allegations, and it was not clear from reports whether he had entered a plea or had an attorney who could comment.
An Enid police captain said officers and detectives worked more than 280 hours over three days on the case and credited their persistence. Police did not release a motive or say whether the two knew each other. The investigation is ongoing.
