First and third generations of the iPhone

Istanbul, Turkey - February 07, 2012: The front wiews of an iPhone 4S and an iPhone 2G isolated on white background. iPhone is a smart cellular phone produced by Apple Computer Inc.

Before you regift your nieces and nephews your old iPhones, check online to see how much they are worth today.

Older iPhones, iPods, and Macbooks are now being sold for top dollar on resale websites as they are now considered collector’s items. According to The Guardian, original Apple gadgets, such as the first-generation iPhone, may sell for as much as $24,000 with its original packaging on eBay. The original iPod classic, which was released in 2001, can bring in even more, in some cases, as much as $48,000. Special edition iPods, such as the U2 fourth-generation red-and-black model, are selling for up to $90,000. The iPod classic is now discontinued, which has helped drive their price upwards online.

These items have approached the collector level as new, upgraded Apple products have invaded the market throughout the years.

Professional eBay trader Hermie Brieto suggests that the “collectability” of vintage Apple products has much to do with the legacy of the late Apple founder, Steve Jobs.

Even older Apple products that could earn you a lot of money include the Apple SMOOTH, which was the first commercially available computer with a graphical user interface. The Apple 1 was the first computer created by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. If you have one of these lying around by chance, you could earn a reported $500,000 for it.
