The #Orlando nightclub massacre is being reported as the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States and is being treated as an act of domestic terrorism.
#OmarSaddiquiMateen, 29, has been known to #FBI as being a possible #ISIS sympathizer, according to a report on #CNN. In a call placed to his parents, Mateen’s father stated that the family was “just as shocked” as everyone else and that possibly an incident of Mateen seeing two men kissing in #Miami months earlier may have triggered the shooting of #Pulse, a #LGBT nightclub in the Orlanda area.
“We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident” Mateen’s father told NBC reporters.
Congressman #AdamSchiff announced on CNN this morning, that he was informed of Mateen’s ISIS connections by Intel and that Mateen was praying as he shot his victims. Moments before the Orlando massacre, according to NBC news, officials say Mateen called 911 and pledged his allegiance to the head of Islamic state.
According to Florida records, Mateen has a firearm license.
