Noor, the wife of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, reportedly told the FBI that she tried to talk her husband out of the attack that left 49 people dead at Pulse nightclub, according to law enforcement sources cited by NBC News and other outlets.
Those same sources said she also told investigators that she once drove Mateen to the club before the shooting and that she was with him when he bought ammunition and a holster.
The FBI said Noor has been cooperating with the investigation. Authorities are reportedly considering criminal charges against her for not telling them what she knew beforehand. No decision on charges had been made, and no charges had been filed at the time of this report.
Twenty seven victims remained hospitalized, six of them in critical condition. Hospital officials said the death toll could still rise because one or two victims were profoundly ill.
Mateen was married twice and had a young son. His first wife, Sitora, who was married to him for about four months in 2009, told CNN that the marriage was abusive, according to her account.
Some regular Pulse patrons also told reporters they believed they had seen Mateen at the club on several occasions before the massacre on Sunday, June 12. Those accounts had not been confirmed by investigators.
