Taryn Manning, who stars in the Netflix series Orange Is The New Black, says she plans to sue over her November 2014 arrest.
According to reports, Manning was arrested in 2014 on a charge of violating a restraining order sought by a former friend named Jeanine. Jeanine claimed Manning sent her threatening text messages. Manning has denied that, saying the claims are false and that it was Jeanine who was harassing her.
Manning says her attorney explained her side to police at the time, but she was still handcuffed and held in a cell for about three and a half hours. She says the arrest was later voided. A response from Jeanine was not included in the reports we reviewed.
Manning now says she is taking legal action against the city for false imprisonment and is seeking damages, according to reports from outlets including Entertainment Tonight. The news comes as Manning has also been in the headlines after a separate, recent report that she was arrested for allegedly assaulting her makeup artist. No outcome in either matter had been reported at the time of this post.
