Nick Cannon has publicly responded after actor Orlando Brown made a claim about him in a social media video.
In a clip posted on Wednesday, Brown, who was 32 at the time and is known for That’s So Raven, claimed he had a sexual encounter with Cannon. Brown did not use Cannon’s last name in the video, but it was included in the caption. He also made a reference to Wild ‘N Out, the show Cannon hosts. Brown’s claim has not been confirmed by anyone else.
Hours after the video spread, Cannon shared a screenshot of an article about it on Instagram along with a long statement. He said his first reaction was to laugh, but that he then saw an opportunity for what he called a teachable moment. Cannon said he is praying for Orlando even though he does not know him personally, and that he has long enjoyed his work. His statement did not confirm Brown’s claim.
Cannon said he believes young entertainers need stronger support systems and that Brown has real talent. He said the video reads to him as a cry for help and encouraged people to embrace Brown rather than laugh at him.
Cannon also called on media outlets and social media users to stop tearing each other down for clicks, calling that approach harmful to the community.
Brown had not responded to Cannon’s statement at the time of this report.
