Shaq went straight into the comments of a creator who dragged him over his new honorary FBI badge, and he did not hold back. The comment now sits pinned at the top of the video, and in it Shaq tells the creator he has no real job, lives in his mom’s house and is still broke.

U don’t have to like me I don’t like u,” Shaq wrote. “U don’t have a real job’ u live in your moms house why should anybody listen to you. All this for clicks and u still broke.”

He kept going, accusing the creator of using people like him for attention and telling him the plan was not working. “You’re a follower I’m a leader,” Shaq wrote. “Get a real job and maybe we will believe. Your page sucks.”

Shaq Instagram comment telling creator who criticized his honorary FBI badge that he is broke

The back and forth started after FBI Director Kash Patel named Shaq an honorary FBI special agent on Sept. 17 during the graduation ceremony for Session 299 of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Patel posted a photo of Shaq towering over him and called him one of the best supporters of law enforcement in the country. The title is honorary. Shaq did not complete the academy’s 10 week program with the 265 law enforcement officers who graduated.

Instagram creator @highlightreelasmr was not impressed. In a nearly two minute video, he said the photo “looks [expletive] horrible” and that Shaq does not understand what it means to be seen smiling and joking with Patel. “I liked him when I was a kid, and then I [expletive] grew up,” he said.

He went further, arguing that anyone who aligns with Trump deserves to lose friends. “If you align yourself with MAGA [expletive], if you align yourself with Trump, then people should ostracize you,” he said.

For viewers who did not know who Patel is, the creator broke it down. Patel is the FBI director Trump appointed, and on Sept. 15 he sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee defending a change to FBI hiring rules. Under the old rules, applicants who admitted to certain acts, including bestiality, were automatically disqualified. Patel removed that automatic ban and told senators the change was meant to protect trafficking victims who were forced into those acts. Senators from both parties pushed back, with Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana pressing him on why he would touch the rule at all. The creator also claimed Patel fired agents who took part in racial justice protests and, citing The New Yorker, an agent trainee who kept a pride flag on their desk.

From there, the creator turned the video into a full Shaq roast. He brought up alleged locker room pranks that former teammates have described over the years, which he labeled as allegations himself, called out a past comment Shaq made about Angel Reese’s shorts, and closed by dragging “Kazaam” and “Steel.” “You remember Steel? Oh, that movie sucked,” he said.

Shaq’s love for law enforcement is nothing new. During his Lakers years, he went through the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Reserve Academy and became a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Port Police. In 2005 he was named an honorary U.S. Deputy Marshal, and after he was traded to the Miami Heat, he trained as a Miami Beach reserve officer. That same year, while in training, he followed a car whose passengers had thrown a bottle at two gay men walking in Miami Beach, called it in to police and helped officers catch them.

Shaq has made it clear the honorary FBI badge is staying on his resume, and he has no plans to explain himself to a creator he says nobody should be listening to.
