Police in Chester County, Pennsylvania, say a woman named Jessica raised more than $10,000 through online fundraisers by claiming she had cancer. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, she was arraigned Monday on charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property. Charges are allegations and not a finding of guilt.
Uwchlan Township detectives say their investigation began in June, when an acquaintance told police that Jessica was running fundraisers on GoFundMe and Facebook for medical bills tied to a colorectal cancer diagnosis. A month later, her husband also reported to police that he had no records showing she was being treated for cancer, according to the criminal complaint.
Police say Jessica gave investigators the names of two doctors she said were treating her. According to the police report, one doctor’s office said she had never been a patient, and the other said he had treated her for anemia, not cancer. Detectives say a search warrant for her records showed no cancer treatment at Penn Medicine.
Chester County’s first assistant district attorney, Michael Noone, said in a statement that the case is disturbing because so many people have been touched by cancer.
Jessica was arrested Monday and released on $10,000 bail, according to the Inquirer. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month. We could not find a public response from her at the time of this report.

Wonderful article! this is a great job of Township police because if they do not stop these bad activities of people then needy’s who speak truth did not get money and they will not treat their diseases and maybe dye.
But I think that if we release these criminals by taking money from these criminals then again fall into these problems again and again. So we have to take strict action on this serious problem.
