Another day, another report of a “Karen” acting out. This time, passengers on an American Airlines flight from Ohio to North Carolina cheered when a woman refusing to wear a mask was kicked off the plane last week.
Video of the incident was filmed by passenger Jordan Slade and uploaded to her TikTok. In the video, the woman can be seen grabbing her things to get off the plane when the passengers erupt in applause and cheer.
A woman can be heard telling her to “just leave, we have flights to get on.”
As she exits, she turns and says, “you can clap all you want.”
“Karen” claimed she had a medical condition that prevented her from wearing a mask, which is required by the airline.
“She was argumentative from the gate,” Slade told the Daily Mail. “She demanded to be boarded first and was causing an obvious scene. Once boarded, she was making phone calls and arguing with the attendant when asked to put her phone away.”
Twitter had a field day with one user tweeting:
“Cheers erupt as ‘Karen’ kicked off plane for not wearing mask. @AmericanAir WHY WAS SHE ALLOWED TO BOARD? WHY DID THE PASSENGERS CARRY THE BURDEN OF CALLING HER OUT?”
Another user referred to the woman as “American Airlines Karen” in their tweet:
“Huge applause as ‘American Airlines Karen’ is escorted off plane for refusing to wear a mask.”
